It's Southern California, 1971. There is no internet, reporters still use pay phones and typewriters, racial tensions run high, and local corruption abounds. But at the Hagthorne Beach Daily Sun News, the official word is don't rock the boat. For a natural-born boat-rocker like Hubert Lee Cudahy that's an impossible task. He has to dig up the dirt, no matter if it means defying his bosses, putting his life in danger, and losing his last chance to rekindle the flame with his sexy ex-wife.
